Nevada Rebounds Strongly in U-Haul Rankings, Jumps to No. 20 After Last Year's Plunge

U-Haul's 2025 Growth Index, based on over 2.5 million one-way moving transactions, shows Texas reclaiming the top spot for the most net arrivals, marking its seventh time at #1 in the past decade. Florida held steady at #2, while North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina rounded out the top five. Southern states continued to dominate the top 10, attracting movers with warm weather, lower living costs, stronger economies, and often lower taxes.

Nevada experienced a strong rebound in 2025, jumping 15 positions from 35th to 20th and returning to net-gain status, with arrivals slightly edging out departures (50.4% inbound). U-Haul attributed this improvement to steady job opportunities, expanding areas like Henderson, and ongoing inflows from neighboring states including California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. also, fewer residents are leaving the state. This reversal followed a steep 24-spot decline from the previous year, when Nevada fell from 11th in 2023 to 35th in 2024, recording its first net loss in years.
