Democrats Retake Voter Registration Lead in Nevada
Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar (D) released June 2026 voter registration statistics showing Democrats have edged back into the lead over Republicans in active voter registrations.
Republicans had held the voter registration advantage for more than a year. The GOP gained the edge in early 2025 following the 2024 election cycle and maintained a modest lead through May 2026, when they held a roughly 5,700 voter advantage.
Nevada added 21,595 active registered voters in June, bringing the statewide total to 2,093,109, a 1.04% increase from the prior month. Democrats saw the strongest growth, adding 7,792 registrants, while Republicans added 3,681. Nonpartisan voters also increased notably and remain the largest category.
Statewide, Democrats now total 581,920 active registrants (27.80%) compared to Republicans at 581,418 (27.78%), for a narrow Democratic edge of 502 voters.
Nonpartisan voters continue to make up the largest bloc at 798,765, representing about 38.16% of active registrations. Minor parties and other categories round out the remainder.
The shift comes as both parties intensify voter outreach efforts ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Registration trends in Nevada have fluctuated in recent years. These monthly figures provide a snapshot of partisan momentum but do not predict election outcomes, as nonpartisan and independent voters often decide races in Nevada’s battleground environment.
